Favorite Blues Riffs and Vamps

This song is an improvised collection of my favorite blues riffs and vamps.

Mississippi Blues

William Brown's 1942 recording of Mississippi Blues is a bridge between Ragtime and Delta Blues. It features heavily syncopated melody and a steady bass rhythm. These are principal characteristics of Ragtime piano. This video is a shortened adaptation of Brown's recording and is played by Jerry Rauser.

The Freethought Band

The Freethought Band played music and produced musical comedy acts for the freethought community of the metropolitan area of Minnesota from 2000 to 2014. We performed for conventions, banquets, picnics and programs at our children's summer camp. We played and composed many types of music, although our musical center was swing jazz. As dedicated volunteers, we always played without compensation.  Band members included Paul Heffron, Jodin Morey, Don Harrer and myself. Here is a link to our band's website.  www.freethoughtmusic.org

Dan Barker - Get Off Your Knees

Dan Barker, Co-President of Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) entertains at an annual banquet of Minnesota Atheists. The song describes the importance of separation of religion and government.  Dan and Jerry have been good friends for over twenty years.
